Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping has appealed for cooperation in his meeting with US President Donald Trump. In the bilateral talks held in Beijing, Xi Jinping clearly said that there should be cooperation and not conflict between the two countries. He emphasized that the world is going through changes not seen in the last century. In such a situation, two big powers like China and America should not become enemies but partners.
Xi Jinping welcomed Trump’s visit to China after nine years and said that he was very happy with this meeting. Xi Jinping said, “The eyes of the whole world are on this meeting between America and China. At this time, such changes are taking place in the world, which have not been seen in the last century. The international situation is unstable and turbulent. The world is standing at a new turning point.”
Xi Jinping questioned whether a new model could be built between China and the United States. He asked, “Can we together address global challenges and bring greater stability to the world? Can we together build a bright future for our bilateral relations, for the benefit of our two peoples and the future interests of all mankind?”
He further said, “I believe that the US and China have common interests. The success of one is an opportunity for the other. Stable bilateral relations are good for the world. China and the US will benefit from cooperation and lose from confrontation. We should not be enemies, but partners.” Xi Jinping said we must help each other succeed and move forward and find the right way for great powers to live well with each other in this new era. The Chinese President expressed hope that the two leaders together can open a new chapter in bilateral relations.
