New Delhi: The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education declared the WBCHSE HS Result 2026 on May 14, bringing the long wait to an end for Class 12 students across the state. Students can check their provisional marksheets on the official websites, wbchse.wb.gov.in and result.wb.gov.in, by using their roll number and registration details.
This year, 6.35 lakh students enrolled for the Higher Secondary exams, 6.26 lakh appeared, and over 5.71 lakh passed. The overall pass percentage stood at 91.2 per cent. The topper list has also been released, with 64 students finding a place in the top 10 merit list. Out of them, 56 are boys and 8 are girls.
WBCHSE HS Result 2026 topper list
Adrito Paul from Narendrapur Ramkrishna Mission secured the first rank in West Bengal. He scored 496 out of 500 marks, which comes to 99.2 per cent.
The second rank was shared by Jishnu Kundu and Ritoproto Nath. Both scored 495 marks and recorded 99 per cent.
Five students jointly took the third rank with 98.8 per cent marks. The names are Debapriya Majhi, Tonmoy Mandal, Soumya Roy, Shubhayun Mondol and Pritam Ballabh.
The fifth rank was shared by Singchan Nandi, Choudhary Mohammad Asim, Indrajeet Ghosh and Soumitra Karan. The update says they scored 691 marks and recorded 98.71 per cent.
Girls lead in turnout, boys dominate top ranks
One of the big talking points this year is the gender gap in participation and merit list numbers. Around 63,000 more female students appeared for the HS exams than boys. Still, the top three ranks were secured by male students.
That does not take away from the larger picture. More girls sitting for Class 12 board exams is a strong education signal for Bengal. In many homes, that result day pressure is real. Marks, college forms, family calls, neighbours asking questions, it all lands on the same day.
How students can check marks
Students can check their online scorecard through the official WBCHSE result portals. The marksheet will show subject-wise marks, total score, division, qualifying status and other key details.
Students need at least 33 per cent to pass the WB Class 12 HS exam. Those who fail to clear the minimum marks can appear for supplementary exams later. Students unhappy with marks can apply for scrutiny after the result process begins.
