Chose a different path instead of following the family path
Rishabh Khaneja says that being the elder son, a fixed path was made for him since childhood. Science in school, then engineering, then MBA and finally a corporate job. This was the mark of success in the eyes of family and society. In every family function there was discussion about IIT and those who get big jobs. However, when he met such people closely, one question remained constant in his mind, if this is the destination, then why don’t the people who reach the destination look happy? This question gave him the courage to change his direction.
Arts studies and Teach For India changed the thinking
Rishabh Khaneja decided to study arts at Mithibai College, Mumbai instead of engineering. After this he joined Teach For India and started teaching children in Mankhurd, Mumbai. He says that the time spent with the children there proved to be the biggest learning period of his life. According to him, by being among children every day he realized that the purpose of life is not just to get a good salary or a job in a big company. Sometimes real satisfaction comes from bringing positive changes in someone’s life.
Left corporate job, started new life again
