CID has arrested 8 people in the JPSC exam rigging case in Jharkhand. At the same time, NIA has arrested two people in the explosive seizure case in Koderma. CID has formed SIT to investigate the case and has appealed to the people to share information.
JPSC exam rigging: CID arrested 8
Ranchi (Jharkhand) [भारत]July 25 (ANI): The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has intensified investigation into alleged irregularities in the examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC). So far, about eight people have been arrested in this case.
These arrests were made in two phases, in which initially five people and later three people were arrested. Following the arrests, the CID has taken five earlier arrested accused on police remand for five days from tomorrow for questioning.
The five accused were identified as JPSC’s former Deputy Examination Controller Shweta Gupta, TDPL Director Ramveer Singh, Mohd. Usman, Mohd. Ibad and Abhay Kumar Tiwari. The three accused arrested recently by the CID have been identified as Hemant Verma, Pradeep Kumar Singh and Sanjay Kumar. All of them were employees of TSR Data Processing Private Limited (TDPL).
CID has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the incident. The investigation is still ongoing and further legal action will be taken based on the evidence obtained by the police. NIA caught 2 with explosives
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday arrested two people after seizing 1,662 illegally stored non-electric detonators and other alleged incriminating materials during searches at four locations in Jharkhand’s Koderma district. The search was conducted in connection with a motorcycle blast that took place in Saltora area in 2024, after which the accused Mahesh Mehta and Shankar Yadav were arrested.
According to the NIA, the duo were allegedly involved in a criminal conspiracy to illegally store explosives and deliver them to a co-accused, causing threat to life and property. The case began with an explosion in which an accused, Joydeb Mandal alias Bablu Mandal, died during illegal transportation of explosives.
During the investigation, the NIA uncovered a criminal conspiracy involving storage and transportation of explosives illegally procured without valid licenses. The agency also uncovered a clandestine network involved in the storage and transportation process, as well as dangerous and improper handling of explosives.
The NIA said its investigation is ongoing to identify the source of the explosives and their intended destination. (ANI)
