Security forces have arrested the top cadre of militant organization UKNA in a joint operation in Churachandpur, Manipur. The accused has been identified as S Palal Thadau, who was the self-styled ‘Finance Secretary’ of the organization and was involved in the extortion-shooting.
The Indian Army, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police have arrested a top cadre of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) in a well-planned and coordinated joint operation. This arrest was made on July 23, 2026 from Molnom village in Churachandpur district of Manipur. The arrested cadre is said to be the self-proclaimed ‘Finance Secretary’ of the organization.
Top militant caught in joint operation
According to an official release, this cadre was a high value target and was involved in large-scale extortion and firing incidents being carried out by UKNA in the area. Upon confirmation of his presence in Molnom village, security forces swiftly surrounded the village and captured him.
Police have identified the man as S Palal Thadou alias Lalboi Singson (45). Extortion notes and a mobile phone have been recovered from him.
The release further said that this joint operation is a major success for the security forces and will make a huge contribution in restoring peace in the region. (ANI)
