A private school in Hyderabad has sacked a teacher after a controversy over religious content being written in the homework of a 6-year-old student. The police is investigating the matter

A private school teacher in Hyderabad, Telangana has been removed from her job. The action followed a controversy over allegations that a 6-year-old Hindu student’s homework contained instructions to read religious information related to Islam. According to news agency PTI, the police has received a complaint from a relative of the student. At present the matter is being investigated and further action will be taken after the completion of the investigation. According to reports, it is alleged that Sheikh Ayesha Parveen, a teacher of ‘Success Group of Education Institution’, had given religious homework to the students of class II.

Family expressed objection to religious content in homework

The controversy started when the child’s family questioned the instructions written in his homework diary. The family says the assignment asked the student to read information related to a major religious belief of Muslims. According to the child’s aunt, she spoke to the school administration regarding the issue. He alleges that the principal said that it is a religious subject, which is necessary for all students to study.

Teacher told- instructions written by mistake

The family claims that the teacher concerned later said that this instruction was written in the student’s book by mistake. The child’s aunt, while showing the school diary, said that subjects related to religion should be taught only to those students who willingly want to study them. He also demanded investigation into the matter and appropriate action from the Education Department.

School management dismissed the teacher

After the controversy escalated, the school management confirmed on Thursday that the teacher concerned has been removed from the job. However, no detailed information about this decision was shared by the school. Police say that after receiving the complaint, investigation into the matter has been started. The statements of all parties and available facts will be reviewed during the investigation. After this, further action will be taken as per law.

Political reaction also emerged on the matter

Union Minister of State for Home Bundi Sanjay Kumar and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) have also reacted to this incident. Both demanded action against the school management. Sanjay Kumar expressed strong objection to the incident and said that the responsibility of the school management should be fixed. He also raised the question as to why the so-called secular organizations are silent on this matter. He also said that if BJP government is formed in Telangana after the 2028 assembly elections, then applying ’tilak’ will be made mandatory for all Hindu students.

VHP demanded cancellation of recognition

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Ravinuthala Sashidhar also demanded strict action against the school in this matter. He said that the government should also consider canceling the recognition of the school.
