Purav Jha, Naman Jain, Chunky Panday and Sikandar Kher headline the upcoming series Chaar Yaar, which explores friendship, ambition and crime against the backdrop of early-2000s Mumbai. The series is set to premiere on Prime Video on October 23.
Directed by Vinay Waikul and written by Sambit Mishra and Saurabh Sawant, the show also features Saqib Ayub, Prayrak Mehta, Sai Tamhankar, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Tailang and Bhagavathi Perumal in pivotal roles.
The makers announced the release date on social media on Friday, sharing the series poster with the caption: “Four friends, one theft, and no turning back #ChaarYaarOnPrime, New Series, Oct 23.”
Set amid the vibrant yet gritty streets of early-2000s Mumbai, Chaar Yaar follows four friends — Jay, Tony, Saahil and Sameer — as they navigate middle-class struggles, family responsibilities and aspirations for a better future.
Their close bond is put to the test when a decision driven by desperation draws them into the world of crime, gangsters and an intense police pursuit. What begins as an attempt to change their circumstances soon escalates into a dangerous journey in which their friendship becomes their strongest support, while every decision carries mounting risks.
Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals (SVOD) at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios India, said the series brings together friendship, ambition, humour and unexpected twists to deliver an entertaining experience.
He added that the platform had consistently supported emerging talent and praised the performances of the young lead cast. Madhok also highlighted Waikul’s direction, saying his craft brings a distinctive flavour to the story.
The series will premiere in Hindi on Prime Video on October 23 across India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
