Team India’s Zimbabwe tour will begin as soon as the England tour ends on July 19. India’s tour of Zimbabwe will start from July 23, where 3 T20 series will be played. There is news of change in the coaching staff of Team India on this tour. According to the report, head coach Gautam Gambhir cannot go to Zimbabwe with Team India. In his place, Center of Excellence head VVS Laxman will be with Team India in Zimbabwe. However, not only in the Zimbabwe tour, VVS Laxman can be seen playing the role of coach for Team India in the Asian Games to be held thereafter.

Busy schedule became the reason, Laxman will replace Gambhir

According to the report of Times of India, the reason for Gautam Gambhir and the rest of his support staff not being with the Indian team in the Zimbabwe tour and Asian Games is the busy schedule of Team India. The home series against West Indies is also to be held at the same time when the Asian Games are being held in Japan. This is the reason why BCCI has decided to separate the coaching staff of the team.

These faces may be in Laxman’s support staff

VVS Laxman can be made the coach for Zimbabwe tour and Asian Games. After returning from the England tour, Gambhir can be seen busy preparing for the home series. Sunil Joshi and Hrishikesh Kanitkar can be in the rest of the support staff along with VVS Laxman in the Zimbabwe tour and Asian Games. Sunil Joshi will be the bowling coach of the team while Hrishikesh Kanitkar will be the batting coach. However, an official statement in this regard is yet to come.
