Why do we cover our heads while worshipping?
There is no written rule in Hindu religion that makes it necessary for every person to cover the head. Meaning, worship without covering the head would result in failure, this is not mentioned anywhere. In worship, utmost importance has been given to devotion and clean mind. However, different states and families have different traditions. In many places like North India, Rajasthan, Punjab and Gujarat, women keep dupatta or pallu on their head during puja. It is considered a symbol of respect and humility. Many men also cover their heads in temples or religious ceremonies.

Covering the head is considered mandatory in some temples and religious places. For example, both men and women go to the Golden Temple with their heads covered. There is no such rule in many Hindu temples, but people cover their heads as per their tradition.

What do religious experts say about head covering?
Covering the head can be a symbol of discipline and respect, but it is not considered necessary in every situation. If a person is worshiping in clean clothes and with devotion, he can worship even without covering his head. For example – 2 people go to the temple. The first person does the puja by tying a handkerchief on his head. If the other worships without covering his head, but with full devotion and devotion, then the importance of the worship of both is decided by their feelings and devotion, not just by covering the head or not.

- Many people cover their heads during special puja or havan.
