Yogi Government Scheme: Yogi Government has implemented 5% reservation for disabled people in skill training programs. Besides, it has been decided to give special priority to acid attack victims, so that they can get new opportunities for employment and self-reliance.

Yogi government has taken a big and sensitive step regarding skill development in Uttar Pradesh. Now, 5 percent seats will be compulsorily reserved for disabled people in all short-term skill training programs running in the state. Along with this, it has been decided to give special priority to acid attack victim women in training and registration. The government says that this initiative is not limited to just providing employment, but is also an effort to connect the deprived and special need sections of the society with respect and self-reliance.

5% seats reserved for disabled people in every training batch

Now 5 percent seats in each batch will be reserved for persons with disabilities in all short-term skill training programs conducted under the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission. State Minister of State for Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) Kapil Dev Aggarwal said that this decision has been taken under the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016.

Acid attack victim women will get special priority

The government has clarified that since acid attack victims are included in the disabled category, they will be given priority in skill training schemes. If any acid attack victim woman is eligible and willing for training, her registration will be ensured on priority basis. The government believes that skill training can become not only a means of employment for these women, but also a medium of giving self-confidence and a new identity.

Instructions issued to all districts

On the initiative of Mission Director Pulkit Khare, District Program Management Units (DPMU) of all the districts of the state have been instructed to implement this scheme effectively. It has been asked to ensure selection of eligible beneficiaries on reserved seats in all the training batches to be formed in the financial year 2026-27.

There will be coordination with the Women Welfare Department

Instructions have also been given to establish coordination with the District Probation Officers of the Women Welfare Department and Child Development and Nutrition Department for better implementation of the scheme. Its objective is to prepare district-wise data of acid attack victims and connect more and more needy women with the scheme.

Government’s focus: respect with employment

Minister of State Kapil Dev Aggarwal said that the objective of skill development is not only to provide employment but also to move the weaker sections of the society towards a self-reliant and respectable life. Experts believe that if this scheme is implemented effectively, it can open up new opportunities for employment and social participation for disabled people and acid attack victim women.
