The Vvaan: TVF’s Arunabh Kumar Denies Ouster Rumour, Confirms No Delay In Release

Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia’s The Vvaan moved its release date from August 28 to September 25. Amid anticipation for its teaser and trailer, a report claimed that the makers are not ready with the final edit as the film requires around 17 days of reshoots. Reportedly, the director, Deepak Mishra, and co-producer TVF were ousted from the folklore thriller. Denying the report of creative differences with Ekta Kapoor and her Balaji Motion Pictures, Arunabh Kumar promised to share an asset of The Vvaan soon.

On World Folklore Day 2026, Anurabh confirmed that  will be releasing on September 25. Sharing behind-the-scenes pictures with Ekta, he wrote, “It all started with our mutual love for stories and temples…from visiting Sidhivinayak on Jan 1st, to Mukteshwar on Mahashivratri, to Mahakumbh & what not.. and we realised how rich our Indian culture is with so many incredible Folklores which are as much history as mythology.”

He further added, “When I shared her the story of the folklore of Vandevi Temple in Bihta…she immediately said this story needs to be told on the big screen…and went all out in giving it as big a canvas as possible. I feel there could not have been a better partner than EK & @balajimotionpictures for such a story.”

The Vvaan to undergo major changes?

According to Filmfare’s report, The Vvaan requires a significant reshoot and re-edit, and the original direction team was replaced. Deepak Mishra, who directed the film since the beginning, along with the original producers, TVF, were removed. The report further claimed that Niraj Kothari and Sahir Raza were overseeing the edit, and were working closely under Ektaa’s direction.

Arunabh’s post came as a clarification that The Vvaan will no longer be postponed. On the other hand, two teasers and a song from the film were cleared by the   on August 14.

The Vvaan is confirmed to be directed by Deepak Mishra. Balaji Motion Pictures, in association with TVF, and 11.11 Production, will be presenting the film. The folklore thriller is written by Arunabh Kumar. According to reports, The Vvaan is set in a mythical forest, and the story is deeply rooted in Indian mythology and folklore. As per early buzz, the movie is expected to create a world that is similar to Rishab Shetty’s Kantara and Kantara: Chapter 1.
