Trump China Visit Failure: America did not get any major success from Donald Trump’s three-day visit to China. Neither any deal was made, nor any joint statement was issued. Amidst the Iran crisis and the Hormuz tension, China distanced itself from openly supporting America.
Relations between the world’s two largest powers, America and China, have always revolved around competition, strategy and balance of power. But when the global crisis deepens, the same countries often become each other’s need. A similar scene was seen when US President Donald Trump reached Beijing on a three-day visit to China.
The interesting thing is that Trump did not say much openly about this visit, but experts in international politics are seeing it as a strategic compulsion of America. Trump’s visit is being considered very important in the eyes of the world amidst the Iran war, Hormuz Strait crisis and increasing pressure on global energy supply.
Mao Zedong’s old warning in discussion again
During Trump’s visit to China, a historical statement of 1958 again came into discussion. At that time, Chinese leader Mao Zedong had said about America’s military policies that if America continues its aggressive policy, the world will one day isolate it. Experts believe that in the current situation, America is facing a similar diplomatic challenge to some extent. In the increasing tension with Iran, many allied countries were not seen openly standing with America. In such an environment, Trump’s arrival in China is being considered a big sign in global politics.

Big businessmen and ministers arrived with Trump
During the Beijing visit, many senior ministers of his cabinet and about 30 big American industrialists were also present with Trump. Trade, energy security, strategic cooperation and the situation in West Asia were discussed in the meetings that lasted for three days. However, the biggest question remained what America wanted to achieve from this tour.
Comparison is being made with Nixon’s historic visit to China
International affairs experts are comparing Trump’s visit to former US President Richard Nixon’s historic visit to China in 1972. At that time, America was embroiled in the Vietnam War and Nixon needed China’s cooperation to get out of the war. For this reason, for the first time America took steps towards normalizing relations with Communist China. At that time, China’s Prime Minister Zhou Enlai welcomed Nixon. Historians believe that the same visit proved to be a major turning point in US-China relations.
Did Trump also reach China out of compulsion?
Analysts believe that Trump’s situation also looked similar to Nixon to some extent. The only difference is that this time the issue is not Vietnam, but Iran and the Hormuz Strait crisis. The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the most important maritime trade routes in the world. A large part of the global oil supply passes through this route. Iran has been continuously adopting pressure tactics in this region, due to which America’s concern has increased. Trump realized that it would not be easy to find a permanent solution to the Iran issue without taking China along, because the strategic and economic relations between China and Iran have become very strong.
Xi Jinping did not give open support
Trump’s attempt was to put pressure on Iran, but Chinese President Xi Jinping gave a very balanced reaction. He only said that the movement of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz should not be disrupted and it is necessary to save the Persian Gulf from becoming a battlefield. China also indirectly raised questions on America’s military strategy. Experts believe that China currently seems to be in no mood to distance itself from Iran.
China-Iran’s closeness increased due to Trump’s policies
According to analysts, Trump’s old policies are also largely responsible for the strengthening relations between China and Iran. In his first term, Trump ended the nuclear deal with Iran and imposed many economic sanctions. During that time, America also put pressure on China to stop buying oil from Iran. But when the US imposed sanctions on Chinese oil companies, China considered it an attack on its sovereignty and economic interests. After this, the energy and strategic partnership between China and Iran became stronger.
China’s strict message
Just before Trump’s visit, America had imposed new sanctions on five Beijing oil companies. The allegation was that these companies were buying oil from Iran. In response, China clearly said that it does not care about American sanctions. This stance of China shows that instead of coming under pressure from America, it now wants to move forward openly on its strategic policy.
World’s eyes on America-China equation
This visit of Trump is not being considered just a formal diplomatic visit, but it is being seen as a sign of the changing global balance of power. On one hand, America wants China’s help in the Iran crisis, while on the other hand, trade, technology and geopolitical competition between the two countries is continuously increasing. In such a situation, in the coming times, the relationship between America and China can play an important role in deciding the direction of world politics and global economy.
