One such conversation was started by a PayPal employee working in Bengaluru, whose post went viral on workplace networking site Grapevine. ‘Goodbye HSR Layout! In the post titled ‘Paying Rs 45,000 as rent for a 1BHK is complete madness’, the professional explained why he left this expensive locality.

He wrote, “Today I am extremely relieved to share that I have finally vacated the HSR using common sense. It feels like a huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders and I am really happy to share this feeling.”

The man told that he had come to live in this area due to pressure from friends and he had to pay very high rent. Then a co-worker advised her to look at a home in Brookfield.

The employee claims that when he saw the area and the flats there, he realized that there were better options in his budget. “Seeing their setup opened my eyes,” she wrote. He also said that of the 15 apartments he had seen in the HSR layout, only 3 were in good condition and only one had proper water supply.

Eventually, he finalized a deal for an apartment in a quiet area away from the city’s IT hub. After this decision, he packed his luggage over the weekend and arranged for transportation.

He wrote, “I must admit that I was completely tired of this world of sham. It has destroyed my income of Rs 24 lakh, which I was single-handedly trying my best to save.” She further wrote, “Goodbye, HSR, and goodbye, terrible traffic here, thank you for making this decision so easy.”
