Royal Challengers Bangalore created history by winning the IPL 2026 title. Bengaluru won the IPL trophy for the second consecutive time by defeating Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets in the final played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. But while RCB players and its fans were celebrating this title win, a day later the team’s star player Tim David was banned. Due to violation of rules on the field, BCCI banned explosive batsman David for one match and also deducted his match fee.
On Monday, June 1, a day after the IPL final, BCCI issued a press release informing about the punishment given to Tim David and also gave the reason for it. Explosive batsman David was found guilty of violating the code of conduct while fielding in Bengaluru. According to this, after the wicket fell in the 10th over of Gujarat’s innings, David aggressively threw an ice bag towards umpire Nitin Menon.
It was told by BCCI that this action of Tim David was a violation of Article 2.9 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which is related to throwing the ball or any object towards a player or match official. David was found guilty of Level-1 for this act and 50 percent of his match fee has been deducted and 2 demerit points have also been added to his account. David also admitted his mistake in front of the match referee and accepted this punishment.
