Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) [भारत]July 6 (ANI): Treasurer of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Swami Govind Dev Giri Ji Maharaj on Monday spoke on the recent developments related to the trust. He confirmed the acceptance of resignations of high-ranking officials and gave an update on the ongoing SIT investigation into the alleged thefts.
SIT investigation and future action
Talking on the future course of action and investigation, Giri said, “We are meeting again on July 22. We hope to get the final report of the SIT by then; we are meeting on the 22nd to deliberate on that report and appoint additional trustees. We want to say clearly that theft is theft, and the SIT is investigating the matter; it is the responsibility of the administration.”
He added, “We also strongly urge that the perpetrators be caught–including accomplices who may still be in hiding–and that they receive the punishment they deserve for their crimes; we stand firm on this.”
Refutation of allegations against donated items
The Treasurer also rejected allegations of missing donated items and claimed that the Trust had meticulous records. Giri Maharaj said, “Allegations are made that various other high-quality offering and donated items also disappeared without any trace. We have brought the register containing the records of all these items to show you; we will present the details of all the related items. We are going to display all this before all of you today. Furthermore, we would like to inform you that we have a register containing a list of 2800 such items, and they are all safe. We will bring these five specific items. Have brought – which have been the subject of discussion – just to show you as a sample.”
He further added, “However, keeping all this in mind, the next work that we undertake will be done in such a way that no one will get the slightest chance to find fault in it. Our Trust is fully committed to ensuring such impeccable execution, and we have constituted a small committee to appoint specific officers for the purpose; we will take the work forward in the same manner.”
Resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra accepted
On the high-profile resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Anil Mishra, Swami Govind Dev Giri Ji Maharaj clarified that the Trust respected their decision to step down. He said, “Once the resignation was given, the decision to accept or reject it was not in our hands; we simply had to accept it. As a result, we accepted it. At that time, we also accepted and appreciated the service rendered by Champat Rai ji.”
The Treasurer said, “He himself took this decision with a great heart. He has worked for the construction of the Ram temple for so many years – from the very beginning, when there was no significant activity regarding the project, till today. We have accepted his resignation out of respect for all his work and the generosity shown in these circumstances. We are committed to making the necessary future arrangements, and the responsibility for this has been handed over to Shri Krishna Mohan ji, who is sitting here with me as the interim general secretary.” (ANI)
