New Delhi, July 25 (ANI): Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday alleged that his comments to the media outside Parliament were “maliciously doctored” using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create and circulate a deepfake video, and said an FIR has been registered in the matter.

“My comments to the media outside Parliament have been maliciously doctored using AI to create and circulate a deepfake video in an attempt to spread misinformation,” Goyal said in the post.
He said that strict legal action will be taken against all those involved in making, circulating or amplifying the alleged fake video.
“Irresponsible misuse of Artificial Intelligence to mislead the public cannot and will not be tolerated,” the Union Minister said.
Goyal also urged people to trust only verified and authentic sources for information. “I am confident that India’s conscious and tech-savvy citizens, especially our youth, will not fall prey to such misinformation,” he said.
Meanwhile, the government also denied a video circulating on social media yesterday, which claimed that Goyal had made threatening remarks about students protesting in Delhi.
Sonam Wangchuk ended her fast: Goyal
Meanwhile, Goyal said on Friday that social activist Sonam Wangchuk has ended her fast after getting assurance from the government. He said the decision reflects Wangchuk’s confidence in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government’s commitment to the youth of the country.
The minister said that BJP national president JP Nadda and Union Minister Jitendra Singh met Wangchuk at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram and addressed his concerns.
Goyal posted on Twitter, “Sonam Wangchuk ji has ended his fast after meeting my colleagues, Shri @JPNadda ji and Shri @DrJitendraSingh ji at Medanta Hospital, Gurugram and assuring them of the government’s commitment to address their concerns. Wangchuk ji’s decision to end his fast reflects his confidence in the Modi government’s commitment to the interests of students.”
The Union Minister also stressed on the government’s unwavering resolve to reform the examination system and safeguard the future of students. Goyal further said in his post, “The government has time and again reiterated its resolve to take strict action against paper leaks and strengthen examination reforms. The welfare of the youth of the country remains the top priority for the government.” (ANI)
