As soon as there is mention of explosive batting in IPL 2026, the most talked about thing is 15-year-old young openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma. But the name of the one who is batting faster than these two is Priyansh Arya. This young opener playing for Punjab Kings has created a stir with his stormy batting and now he has a record in his name which no other batsman has been able to achieve in the history of IPL. Priyansh made a special record by hitting a six on the very first ball of the match against Delhi Capitals.
For the first time in the current IPL season, cricket action was seen in Dharamshala on 11 May. Punjab and Delhi They were face to face in this match and host Punjab came to bat first on its second home ground. The opening pair of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh came to start the innings for Punjab. Left-handed batsman Priyansh faced the first ball of the match, which was bowled by Australia’s legendary fast bowler Mitchell Starc.
Record by hitting a six on the first ball
On the very first ball of the match, Priyansh Arya hit a six by playing a beautiful shot over the covers. With this a big record was registered in his name. This was not the first time that he started the match with a sixer. Rather, Priyansh became the first batsman in IPL history to hit a six on the first ball of a match. He did this feat on the ball of Khalil Ahmed in the match against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025.

Apart from Priyansh, four other batsmen including Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal hit a six on the first ball of the match but they could do so only once each. Not only this, this is the third time when Priyansh has hit a six on the very first ball of an innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal has done this feat more times than him, who hit a six on the first ball of an innings 4 times in the match.
A quick half-century after a six
But Priyansh not only hit a six on the first ball, but in this over of Starc, another sixer came off his bat, while Prabhsimran Singh also scored 22 runs from the over by hitting a four. Priyansh’s attack continued even after this and Delhi had completed 50 runs of the innings in just 16 balls. Whereas Priyansh himself did not take much time to complete his half-century and completed his third half-century of this season in 24 balls. However, after the half-century, he did not last long and was out after scoring 56 runs.
