Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Review: A Laughterous Relationships Drama With Smart Storytelling

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, the messy relationship drama, blends situational comedy, love, romance, friendship, and unexpected twists that will keep you hooked to the screen to find out what’s next. Unlike the 2019 film Pati Patni Aur Woh, this time the drama expands, and so does the chaos, confusion, and entertainment, till the end.

As the title suggests, the film revolves around a pati, his patni, and two women who serve as catalysts, bringing drama to a fun and smart storyline. What makes the story stand out is how cleverly the film hides the entire context in a relationship drama via situational comedy.

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Story

Set in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, the film follows the story of Prajapati Pandey, played by Aayushmann Khurrana, a forest officer skilled in his work and happily married to his journalist wife, Aparna, played by Wamiqa Gabbi. Aparna’s best friend and Prajapati’s colleague, Nilofer, played by Rakul Preet Singh, adds to the chaos. Everything goes well until Chanchal Kumari (Sara Ali Khan) enters Prajapati’s life seeking help to save her.

Prajapati agrees to help Chanchal and also plans to seek his wife Aparna’s help, but the tables turn when he discovers that the person behind Chanchal’s problem is his wife Aparna, which brings him into a never-ending cycle of chaos and misunderstandings, exploring extramarital affairs, casteism, discrimination, and romance.

Cast Performance

Ayushmann Khurrana as Prajapati is just exceptional. His entry as a pro forest officer, trapping a cheetah, creates an impact. From his body language, dialogue delivery, and chemistry, he brings his character to life to the best of his ability.

Wamqia Gabbi, dressed in classy sarees as a journalist, impresses. Like her look, her character is crisp and entertaining. Her chemistry with Ayushmann isn’t too impressive, but it lands subtly while Rakul Preet Singh plays her part well. While her scenes were limited, but impactful enough, making her a key character in the storyline and the chaos. Sara Ali Khan, as a beautiful, strong, and smart Chanchal, entertains. The actress did justice to her role.

Vijay Raaz plays a key role, and his character as an inspector adds to the chaos, becoming even more interesting. Actors Ayesha Raza Mishra, Tijmanshu Dhulia, Durgesh Kumar, Vishal Vashishtha, Deepika Amin, and others deliver strong performances, helping the film stand out and resonate with the audience.

The highlight of the film is its writing, as the storytelling and sequences land at the perfect moments, leading to laughter and entertainment. Director Muddassar Aziz, with his vision, beautifully showcased the complex topic in an organic, engaging drama.

My personal favorite sequence was the one in which Aparna sees Nilophar in Prajapati’s arms, and this scene sets the stage for the drama ahead.

In terms of music, the film scores well. Though the lyrics seem decent, the visuals elevate the experience. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Renu Ravi Chopra under the banners T-Series Films and B R Studios, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is a laughter-filled ride, with smartly written storytelling that surprises at every turn and keeps the viewer hooked. Some moments made us laugh out loud.
