This is the first time he is meeting Vijay, after his controversial comments he made about his public appearance with Trisha, with whom he is often linked to.

The controversy began after Parthiban reacted to a photograph of Trisha and Vijay who were spotted together at a wedding. During this rapid-fire segment at an awards event, he said, “Kundhavai has to be made to sit at home” referring to Trisha’s character name in Ponniyin Selvan in which he also appeared. He later clarified that the remark was spontaneous.

In a video he said that “Trisha, who is over 40 years old, should have said she would not come to the reception with Vijay as his image would be tarnished. She could have stayed home.” The controversy has also unfolded against the backdrop of ongoing divorce row surrounding Vijay and his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam. The actor is currently involved in legal divorce proceedings. A petition reportedly filed by Sangeetha has mentioned allegations of an extra-marital relationship involving an unnamed actress.
