VB-G RAM G Act 2025: Now VB-G RAM G Act 2025 will be implemented in place of MNREGA. From July 1, 2026, rural families will get 125 days employment guarantee, DBT payment and unemployment allowance. Know the major changes and benefits of the new scheme.
The Central Government has taken a big step towards changing the picture of rural India. Now a new and comprehensive system is going to be implemented in place of the MNREGA scheme that has been running for years. The Central Government has notified the “Vikas Bharat-G Ram Ji (VB-G RAM G) Act, 2025”, which will come into effect across the country from July 1, 2026.
The government claims that this is not just an employment scheme but a big mission to make the rural economy self-reliant. The special thing is that under this new system, rural families will now get a legal guarantee of employment for 125 days, not 100. Chhattisgarh government has also intensified preparations to implement this act. The state government says that this will give new impetus to economic stability, water conservation and agricultural infrastructure in the villages.

Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said the basis of rural prosperity
Vishnu Dev Sai has described this Act as a historic step for rural development. He said that this law will play an important role in fulfilling the “Developed India 2047” vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Chief Minister said that for an agricultural state like Chhattisgarh, the legal guarantee of 125 days of employment will bring economic security and stability in the lives of rural families. He assured that the state government will implement this entire system with transparency so that the benefits reach the last person.
Now 125 days employment guarantee
Under the new system, willing adult members of every rural household will be legally guaranteed 125 days of unskilled manual labor every financial year. This is 25 days more than the existing MNREGA limit of 100 days. The government believes that this will increase employment opportunities in rural areas and reduce migration. The Central Government has made a record budget provision of Rs 95,692.31 crore for this scheme for the financial year 2026-27. The total expenditure including the contribution of the states is estimated to be more than Rs 1.51 lakh crore.
Wages directly deposited into account, compensation will be given on delay
- Major changes have also been made regarding wage payment in the new system.
- Wages will be sent directly to the bank accounts of workers through DBT
- Payment will be mandatory on weekly basis or within 15 days of closing of muster roll
- Workers will be entitled to “delay compensation” if payment is delayed
- Unemployment allowance will be given if work is not received within the stipulated time.
The government says that with this, rural laborers will get money on time and complaints of corruption will be reduced.
Panchayats will get more rights
In this Act, the role of Gram Panchayats has also been strengthened more than before. Now Panchayats will be able to select works as per local needs. These will include works related to water conservation, agricultural infrastructure, rural roads and community assets. Experts believe that this will promote sustainable development work in villages and create employment opportunities at the local level.
How will there be changes in the new system due to MNREGA?
The government has tried to ensure that workers do not face any problems during the transition.
- Existing e-KYC verified MNREGA job cards will remain valid temporarily
- The old cards will continue to be valid until the new Rural Employment Guarantee Card is issued.
- All ongoing MNREGA works will continue without interruption till 30 June 2026.
- These works will automatically be included in the new system from July 1.
- New workers will be able to get registered easily at Gram Panchayat level.
Preparation to make rural India self-reliant
The government is presenting this Act not just as an employment scheme, but as a big campaign to make rural India economically stronger. According to experts, if this scheme is implemented effectively, it can provide huge benefits to water conservation, agricultural improvement, rural infrastructure and local employment in villages. In states like Chhattisgarh, where a large population is dependent on agriculture and rural employment, its impact can be directly visible on the rural economy.
Will the picture of rural employment change?
MNREGA has been a major support for rural employment for years, but from time to time questions have been raised regarding delay in payment, limited employment period and work selection. Now the government is claiming to make it more comprehensive, technology based and accountable through the VB-G RAM G Act. The biggest question in the coming months will be whether this new system will actually change the picture of the villages or will it also have to face old challenges in implementing it on the ground.
