The student movement on the NEET exam controversy has received the support of Supreme Court lawyers. In a show of solidarity, the lawyers read out the Preamble of the Constitution in the court premises and stressed on the protection of constitutional values such as justice and equality.
NEET The student movement going on in the capital Delhi demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the examination controversy has now got the support of the lawyers of the Supreme Court. A group of Supreme Court lawyers read the Preamble of the Indian Constitution in the court premises in solidarity with the students. The lawyers involved in the protest said that this step is to show their commitment to the fundamental values given in the Constitution.
Lawyers read the preamble of the Constitution
This program was organized under the leadership of Supreme Court lawyers. Everyone together read the Preamble of the Constitution and emphasized that it is the responsibility of every citizen to protect the constitutional values like democracy, justice, liberty, equality and fraternity. The lawyers made it clear that this symbolic demonstration has been organized in support of the ongoing student movements in different parts of the country.
Senior lawyers Indira Jaisingh and Dr. S. Muralidhar led the reading of the Preamble of the Constitution. President of the Supreme Court Bar Association and senior advocate Vikas Singh, senior advocate Anand Grover, Anjana Prakash, Sanjay Ghosh, Shadan Farasat, Arundhati Katju, Mahalakshmi Pavani, Nandita Rao, P.V. Surendranath, Manali Singhal, Sangeeta Bharti, P.V. Many members of the bar including Dinesh, Jayant Thakur and lawyer Vrinda Grover attended.
Constitutional rights must be protected
The lawyers also stressed that it is extremely important to protect the constitutional right to express one’s opinion and protest peacefully. He said that the Preamble was read to maintain the spirit of the Constitution and is not a part of any political party. This demonstration of lawyers in front of the Supreme Court was completely peaceful. Pictures of this demonstration were widely shared on social media.
