Rahul Gandhi’s video message has directly hit the top leadership of the government. The five major demands put forward by him are as follows:
- Flurry of resignations: Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should immediately resign from their posts.
- Action on Khaki: Strict action should be taken against the policemen who brutally lathi charged the innocent student protesters on Monday and the cases registered against the students should be withdrawn.
- PM’s apology: Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself should publicly apologize to the country for this barbaric use of force on students.
- Open war in Parliament: There should be an immediate full-time debate on this issue in both the Houses of Parliament (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) without any delay or technical excuse.
- System Rejuvenation: Fundamental and revolutionary reforms should be implemented as soon as possible in the country’s broken examination and education system.
Rahul Gandhi asked sharp questions, “Why is the Indian education system collapsing? Why are papers being leaked? Why do families have to be financially ruined to educate their children? These are legitimate questions and there is no harm in asking them.”
