SP MP Dimple Yadav targeted the central government over the police action against students during the CJP protests. He asked whether this is BJP’s ‘Ram Rajya’? The opposition has also demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Opposition attacks Center on ‘Ram Rajya’
New Delhi [भारत]July 22 (ANI): Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav on Wednesday attacked the Center over police action against protesting students during CJP’s July 20 protest. He questioned whether this was Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘Ram Rajya’ where “students are beaten and girls’ clothes are torn.”
The Samajwadi Party MP questioned BJP’s claim of ‘Ram Rajya’ and alleged that students were beaten and girls’ clothes were torn during the protests at Jantar Mantar. He also demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Dimple Yadav said, “Is this BJP’s ‘Ram Rajya’? Where students are beaten and girls’ clothes are torn. We want discussion, but the government does not want this. We want discussion on the issues of Ram Temple, NEET and police and CRPF action against students. We also want the resignation of their minister (Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan).”
Priyanka Gandhi also surrounded the government
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that the demands of the students are legitimate and they are fighting for their rights. He insisted that there was “nothing undemocratic” in the peaceful protests, while alleging that what was happening with the students and in Parliament was “undemocratic”.
“The struggle of the students is real and they are demanding change. Paper leaks are happening again and again… There is nothing undemocratic in peaceful protests, but what is happening with students and in Parliament is undemocratic,” the Wayanad MP told reporters. The Congress MP further said that students are raising genuine concerns and questioned the allocation of funds. He further said, “What happened to us is irrelevant. You (media) tell me whether what happened to the students is right or wrong? The demands of the students are legitimate and they are asking for their rights. The education budget is Rs 1.4 lakh crore, but you are waiving off loans worth Rs 16 lakh crore of Adani and Ambani.”
Opposition adamant on resignation of Education Minister
Congress MP Deepender Hooda also said that the opposition’s protest will continue until the resignation of the Education Minister and discussion on the education system. Hooda said, “Our protest will continue until Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation and the education system is discussed.”
On July 20, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) held a ‘Sansad Chalo’ protest in the national capital, which was responded to by the police. Opposition leaders have strongly criticized the police action and alleged that the protesters were “lathi-charged” and tear gas shells were fired.
Meanwhile, opposition MPs today protested against the government in the Parliament complex by wearing black clothes. Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Priyanka Gandhi and others were present in the protest. (ANI)
