Milap Zaveri Dedicates Next Film to Late Mentor Sanjay Gupta

Filmmaker Milap Zaveri has announced that his upcoming project will be a heartfelt dedication to his late mentor, Sanjay Gupta. Zaveri, visibly grief-stricken by Gupta’s sudden demise, shared a poignant memory of their last meeting just ten days prior.

During their conversation, Zaveri had revealed the title of his next film to Gupta. “Milap. The original film with the same title was produced by my father!!!” an excited Sanjay Gupta had reportedly exclaimed. This moment of shared joy and pride deeply resonated with Zaveri.

In a moving tribute, Zaveri expressed his profound gratitude for Gupta, whom he considered his ‘Godfather,’ ‘God,’ ‘Father,’ ‘Brother,’ and ‘Friend.’ He credited Gupta with giving him his initial break in the industry, starting with the 2002 action-thriller ‘Kaante,’ where Zaveri contributed as a dialogue writer. Their professional collaboration extended to several other notable films, including ‘Musafir’ (2004), ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’ (2007), and ‘Shootout at Wadala’ (2013).

Sanjay Gupta, a respected figure in Bollywood known for his distinct directorial style, passed away on October 30 at his Mumbai residence at the age of 59. Reports indicated that his death was due to a head injury sustained after a fall in the bathroom. Milap Zaveri’s dedication serves as a touching homage to his guiding force in the film industry.
