Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the ‘Run for Yoga’ program organized to commemorate the 12th International Yoga Day at Police Lines in Dehradun on Friday. On this occasion, he gave the message of taking Yoga to the masses and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
The Chief Minister said that this event is not limited to just one race, but is an effective campaign to make people aware about health, positive thinking and yoga. He said that such programs play an important role in building a healthy society.

Uttarakhand is the land of yoga and spiritual tradition
Chief Minister Dhami said that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand has been a place of yoga, spiritual practice and penance for sages for centuries. The rich cultural and spiritual heritage here gives the message of a balanced, healthy and positive life to the entire humanity. He said that Yoga is an ancient cultural heritage of India, which is a scientific and practical way of life that establishes harmony between body, mind and soul. Yoga is an effective medium to make a person physically and mentally strong.
Yoga got global recognition due to the efforts of Prime Minister Modi
The Chief Minister said that due to the visionary leadership and efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yoga has gained new recognition globally. He told that after the proposal presented by India in the United Nations General Assembly in the year 2014, June 21 was recognized as International Yoga Day. Today, crores of people in more than 190 countries of the world have made yoga a part of their daily routine. This is an important example of global acceptance of India’s cultural heritage.
Yoga becomes effective solution amid stress and health challenges
Chief Minister Dhami said that in the present times, amidst increasing stress, depression and various health problems, Yoga has emerged as the most effective medium for a healthy and balanced life. He appealed to the youth to include regular yoga and exercise in their daily routine. He said that healthy, energetic and disciplined youth are the strong foundation for the bright future of the state and the country.

Government’s efforts towards making Uttarakhand a yoga and wellness hub
The Chief Minister said that the State Government is continuously working to develop Uttarakhand as a global center of Yoga, Ayurveda, Wellness and Naturopathy. Yoga and meditation centers are being encouraged through the new yoga policy. Besides, special attention is also being given to providing support to yoga instructors and creating new employment opportunities based on yoga and wellness.
Call to make yoga a mass movement
The Chief Minister called upon the people of the state to adopt yoga daily, develop a healthy and disciplined lifestyle and cooperate in building a drug-free society. He said that every citizen should take a pledge to take the message of Yoga to the last person of the society. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the youth of the state will play an important role in turning Yoga into a mass movement and will ensure their participation in building a healthy, prosperous and strong Uttarakhand.
Many public representatives and officials were present in the program
On this occasion, many public representatives and senior officials including Cabinet Minister Madan Kaushik, MLA Vinod Chamoli, Dehradun Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, Secretary AYUSH Ranjana Rajguru, District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan and Senior Superintendent of Police Parmendra Doval were present.
