Iran has attacked two UAE oil tankers with cruise missiles.
Late last night, Iran attacked two oil tankers of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with cruise missiles. One Indian died in the attack. Many others have been injured. After the incident, Iranian diplomats including Iran’s Deputy Ambassador Mohammad Javad Hussaini were summoned on Tuesday. The Foreign Ministry expressed serious concern and sought a response from the Iranian mission.
Generally, ballistic missiles are used for attacks, but Iran has not used cruise missiles for nothing. There is a well thought out strategy behind this also. Know, in both missiles What is the difference and who is more powerful?
What is cruise missile?
Cruise missiles work differently. It flies very close to the ground surface, i.e. at a very low altitude, like an aircraft. The jet engine installed in it provides continuous energy during flight. It does not fall due to the type of ballistic missile.

Its biggest strength is its accurate aiming and the power to change its path. The navigation system installed inside it helps in changing the path during flight. It can fly by hiding behind mountains and buildings, and can try to avoid radar detection. That is why it is especially used to target precise targets like oil tankers, ships or any specific military base.
How different are ballistic missiles?
When a ballistic missile is launched, it first rises upwards at a very high speed, crosses the boundary of the atmosphere and moves towards its target. Its route cannot be changed mid-flight. Its speed is its strength. It moves many times faster than the speed of sound. It becomes difficult to stop it. This is the reason why advanced defense systems like THAAD and Patriot are required to kill it.

Who is better?
Now the question is which one is better between ballistic and cruise missiles? The answer is that both the keys are used for different purposes.
When is ballistic missile better?
- When the target is very far and it is necessary to reach the target quickly.
- When speed has to be the biggest weapon to dodge the enemy’s defense system.
- It is very difficult to stop the hypersonic speed of a ballistic missile.
- It is used for major attacks on large, stationary targets such as cities and large military bases.
When is the cruise missile effective?
- When precise targeting is required, such as a specific ship, tanker or building.
- When one has to avoid radar by flying at low altitude.
- When the surrounding damage has to be kept low, because it takes precise aim.
