Mohammad Kaif and Ravi Shastri on Rohit Sharma: After Rohit Sharma’s brilliant century against England at Lord’s, the news of his retirement has come to an end. After the second match of the series, there were reports that this could be Rohit Sharma’s last ODI series and the team management has made up its mind to move ahead. Mohammad Kaif has openly supported Rohit Sharma by sharing a video on his Instagram handle and has taken a sharp dig at those speculating about his retirement. Mohammad Kaif, targeting Rohit Sharma’s critics, said in his video, ‘Retirement done? Got my nose cut. He himself will decide Rohit Sharma’s retirement. This is their right. He has done so much work for India, he will go of his own free will. Right now so much pressure is being put on him that brother, it is yours, now you go and take retirement. But amidst this pressure, he scored a historic century at Lord’s.
Let us tell you, in this match, Rohit Sharma, while batting in difficult conditions, played an unmatched inning of 138 runs in just 110 balls. In this innings, he hit 17 fours and 5 skyscraper sixes while playing at a strike rate of 125.45. But in the end Team India had to face defeat by 27 runs.

Kaif believes that Rohit Sharma can do a lot for Team India even at this age, provided he gets full backup from the captain and the board without any pressure. Kaif appealed to BCCI and current captain Shubman Gill to openly support the senior player.
On the other hand, former India head coach and commentator Ravi Shastri has supported Rohit Sharma amid speculations of retirement. Ravi Shastri said, ‘Rohit did not need to prove himself, but he has silenced everyone. When rumors like this spread, sometimes it is disturbing. When a player has done so much, he does not need to prove anything to anyone. But if he has the desire to play, works hard at his game and is still enjoying it, then I think he should be given a chance to play as long as he wants.
