Recently, an engineering student shared his experience on Reddit, in which he said that despite having full hopes of getting an annual package of ₹ 35 lakh, the PPO (Pre-Placement Offer) was canceled at the last moment. Manager assured, yet got rejection on last day
The student said that he is an engineering graduate of 2026 batch and had got a 6-month internship through campus placement. After this internship, there was a possibility of getting a PPO with ₹ 35 lakh annual CTC on the basis of performance. He worked hard during the internship and his manager also gave positive feedback and assured that there was every possibility of getting PPO. But just two days before the end of the internship, the company sent an email to all the 90 interns together asking them not to give PPO. According to the student, the company has decided not to recruit new SDE-1 posts this year.

Now only ₹6.5 lakh offer, what to do next?
After the cancellation of PPO, the student is left with a backup offer of ₹ 6.5 lakh per annum received during campus placement. His biggest concern is that this salary is much less than his internship stipend. She also said that despite having a good profile, strong resume and experience like Google Summer of Code (GSoC), she is not getting new interview calls and is seeing very few job postings for freshers.
