AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced that he will hold a press conference at 11 am over the government’s action against student protesters. After this he will go to RML Hospital to inquire about the well being of those injured during the clashes.
Amid rising political tension over police action against protesting students, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, in a post on X, announced plans to address the media on Tuesday morning and personally meet people undergoing treatment at RML hospital. He wrote, “I will hold a press conference at 11 am today against the Modi government’s action on students tomorrow. After that, I will go to RML hospital to meet the injured people.”
Kejriwal’s attack on the center
Earlier on Monday, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal had launched a scathing attack on the Center over the police action against students and described the Modi government as “extremely arrogant” for using force against peaceful protesters. He said, “The youth of our country are very upset and angry at the moment. Look at the condition of our country’s examination system: first the papers were leaked; then, a huge scam came to light in the UPSC evaluation process, resulting in wrong marks being given to students. After this, the NEET exam was conducted and re-conducted, yet there were glitches in the entire evaluation system.”
“Students filed complaints one after another, but no one paid attention to their concerns. Where should these students and their parents go? Whom can they go to for justice and redress? The government simply does not listen,” Kejriwal told reporters. Kejriwal condemned the use of force to suppress the protests.
Delhi Police appeals to maintain peace
Meanwhile, Delhi Police on Monday urged people to maintain peace and avoid spreading rumors or unverified information amid the ongoing protests by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) over the alleged NEET exam paper leak. Police also asked protesters to cooperate with security personnel and follow legal instructions to maintain public order.
In a post on Twitter, the official account of Delhi Police wrote, “Delhi Police appeals to all protesters to maintain peace, exercise restraint and cooperate with the police in ensuring peace and public order. All participants are requested to conduct themselves peacefully, avoid indulging in any unlawful or violent activities and follow legal instructions issued by the police officers/personnel on duty.”
The post further read, “The public is advised not to believe or disseminate rumours, misinformation or unverified content through any platform. Citizens are requested to rely only on authentic information sources and cooperate with Delhi Police in maintaining peace, harmony and public order.”
CJP made three demands
On the other hand, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) chief spokesperson Sourav Das said he met Union Health Minister JP Nadda and put forward three demands, including resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and compensation of Rs 1 crore to the families of NEET aspirants, “of whom more than 20 have lost their lives”. He said activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is in hospital, “should be released immediately”.
Das said that the protests will continue until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. Das told ANI, “We met JP Nadda twice. During the meeting, we put forward our three demands. First, Sonam Wangchuk should be released immediately… Second, we demand that Dharmendra Pradhan should resign; he should either be dismissed from the cabinet or he should resign voluntarily. The protest will continue till we get his resignation. Third, we demand a compensation of Rs 1 crore for the families of NEET aspirants, including More than 20 have lost their lives. We approached JP Nadda with these demands.” (ANI)
