In Bengaluru, a delivery executive entered a woman’s house on the pretext of using the washroom and stripped himself naked. Neighbors caught him, following which the police registered a case of sexual assault and trespassing. The incident raises concerns over delivery safety.
Police have registered a case against a delivery executive in Bengaluru’s Electronics City. He is accused of entering a woman’s house on the pretext of using the washroom and then stripping himself naked in front of her. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the incident took place on July 17, but the complaint was filed on Monday. The victim woman is 30 years old and lives in Electronics City Phase 1. He had ordered through Uber to renew his rental agreement.
The woman told the police that a delivery executive named Mahesh came to her house at around 9:20 in the morning to deliver the documents and asked for OTP. When she went inside to get her mobile phone, the accused allegedly entered the house and started asking for permission to use the washroom. The woman alleges that despite her refusal, Mahesh forcefully entered the washroom. A few minutes later, he reportedly came out without clothes and started exposing himself to the woman.
Frightened by this incident, the woman immediately ran out of the house and raised an alarm. After this, his neighbors and the security officer of the apartment caught the accused and handed him over to the police.
case registered
Based on the woman’s complaint, the police have registered a case and are investigating the allegations. A case has been registered against Mahesh under relevant sections of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS), which include: Section 75 (sexual harassment), Section 79 (word, gesture or act intended to outrage the modesty of a woman) and Section 329(4) (house trespass).
This case comes after a similar incident in Marathahalli, where another delivery worker was also arrested for entering a woman’s house and stripping himself on the pretext of using the bathroom. This latest incident has raised concerns over safety during doorstep delivery services and officials are investigating both the incidents.
