Barnawapara Sanctuary: Summer holidays are often limited to just play and rest for children, but this time the children at Devpur Nature Camp in Chhattisgarh made the holidays an experience of learning, adventure and connection with nature. This summer camp, organized amidst dense forests, bird sounds and open sky, gave the children a chance to get out of the books and understand nature closely. In this special camp organized near Baranwapara Sanctuary in Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara district, children took part in activities like jungle trekking, bird watching, wildlife safari and visiting historical sites. This camp was not limited to just entertainment, but also became a medium to develop environmental protection, team spirit and self-confidence among the children.

Unique learning experience amidst nature

Devpur Nature Camp was organized from 16th May to 22nd May under the guidance of Divisional Forest Officer Dhammasheel Ganveer. The aim of this camp was to bring children closer to nature by taking them out of the world of technology and screens. More than 65 participants from Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh participated in the camp. Children of field employees of the Forest Department were also included in these. All the children gained new experiences by living amidst the forests and described it as a memorable experience of their life.

Jungle trekking and bird watching became the main attraction

Every morning the children were taken for jungle trekking and bird watching. During this time he learned to identify different birds and understood the biodiversity of the forest closely. Children were given practical information about the natural habitat of wildlife, structure of the forest and environmental balance. Teamwork and leadership skills were also developed in them through tent camping and outdoor adventure games.

During the camp, children were taken on wildlife safari to Baranwapara Sanctuary, where they saw many wildlife in their natural environment. Apart from this, an educational tour was also conducted to the historical city of Sirpur. Information received about medicinal plants and biodiversity

On the occasion of World Biodiversity Day, children were taken on a special Biodiversity Trail. Here the local traditional healers told them in detail about the rare medicinal plants and herbs found in the forests. This activity made them understand the importance of traditional knowledge and environmental protection.
