Delhi Metro: The construction work of Indralok-Indraprastha corridor of Delhi Metro has started. This 12.37 km long underground route will make the Magenta Line about 89 km long with 10 new stations.
There is big news for those traveling by Delhi Metro. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has formally started the construction of the Indralok-Indraprastha corridor. The work of this ambitious project has started with the construction of diaphragm wall at Sarai Rohilla Metro Station. After the completion of this corridor, access to many major areas of the capital will be easy and the Magenta Line will become the longest driverless corridor of Delhi Metro.
Construction work started from Sarai Rohilla station
According to DMRC, Sarai Rohilla station will be the major underground station of the Indralok-Indraprastha corridor of the Magenta Line. The station is located in an important area of Central Delhi, where prominent places like Karol Bagh Market, Deshbandhu Gupta Road, many educational institutions and cinema halls are present. The project has entered the critical phase of construction with the commencement of diaphragm wall construction.
The new underground corridor will be 12.37 kilometers long
The total length of Indralok-Indraprastha corridor will be 12.377 kilometers and it will be built completely underground. 10 new underground stations will be developed on this route. After completion of the project, the Magenta Line will extend for about 89 kilometers from Botanical Garden to Indralok, making it the longest line in the Delhi Metro network.
Interchange will be available with seven metro lines
The biggest feature of this corridor will be its multi-interchange facility. Passengers will be able to easily connect with Red and Green Line at Indralok, Yellow Line and Airport Express at New Delhi Station, Violet Line at Delhi Gate and Blue Line at Indraprastha Station. This will reduce travel time in the capital and make transportation between different areas more convenient.
There will be easy access to these important places
The new corridor will provide better connectivity to important places like Sarai Rohilla Railway Station, New Delhi Railway Station, Delhi Secretariat, Arun Jaitley Stadium, Jhandewalan Temple, India Gate, Dutta Path and Central Vista. This is expected to directly benefit lakhs of passengers every day.
Magenta Line will become the longest driverless line
DMRC said that after the completion of the extension, the Magenta Line will be a completely driverless metro line of approximately 89 km long. Whereas, from Janakpuri West R.K. Construction work is also going on at a fast pace in the Priority Corridor up to Ashram Marg and Central Vista area. After the completion of these projects, the metro connectivity of Delhi-NCR will become stronger and more convenient than ever.
