Chhattisgarh Tourism News: During the inspection of major tourist places including Rajmergarh, the Collector gave priority to Baiga Kutir, facilities, local culture and tourism development.

GPM Tourism News: The district administration is making continuous efforts to develop Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi (GPM) district as a major tourist center of Chhattisgarh. In this direction, Collector Shri Vijay Dayaram K. He himself is inspecting the tourist places and reviewing the development works. In this sequence, he took a detailed tour of Rajmergarh and inspected various tourist places including the under-construction Baiga Kutir and gave necessary directions to the officials.

Baiga Kutir in Rajmergarh will get traditional and attractive look

During the inspection, the Collector observed the Baiga cottage being built on the top of Rajmergarh hill. He instructed the construction agency that it should be constructed in a traditional, attractive and airy style in accordance with the natural environment. He said that this cottage will become a major center showcasing the rich culture, traditions and lifestyle of the Baiga tribe, through which the tourists coming here will be able to know the local culture closely. He also gave instructions to complete the construction work soon with quality in view of the possible increasing number of devotees and tourists in Jwaleshwar Dham in the upcoming month of Sawan.

Review of arrangements at Jwaleshwar Dham, Durgadhara and other tourist places

During the inspection, the Collector also visited major tourist places like Jwaleshwar Dham, Mai Ka Madwa, Durgadhara and Thad Pathra. He reviewed in detail the tourism infrastructure developed here, basic facilities and arrangements available for tourists. He asked the officials to strengthen cleanliness, security, drinking water, resting places, indicator boards and other essential facilities at all tourist places on priority basis. Their objective is to provide a safe, clean and comfortable environment to the tourists so that tourism activities in the district can be further promoted.

Emphasis on linking local culture and employment with tourism

During the inspection, the Collector also discussed with the members of tourism management committees. He took information about the income-expenditure system of the committees, tourism activities and topics related to local employment. He inspired the committees to link local handicrafts, forest produce, traditional food items and Baiga tribal culture with tourism. This will give the tourists an opportunity to get acquainted with the local products and culture, while the villagers will get a better market for their products and their income will also increase.

Tourism committees will get technical support and training

The Collector directed the concerned departments to provide necessary technical guidance, training and all possible support to the tourism management committees. He said that the expansion of tourism activities will create new employment and self-employment opportunities for the local youth. Along with this, he also gave instructions to further improve cleanliness, drinking water, security arrangements, sign boards, rest facilities and other basic arrangements at all tourist places.

Tourism development model will be strengthened through public participation

During the inspection, Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat Mr. Mukesh Raote and officials of various departments were present. This inspection of major tourist places of the district including Rajmergarh is not limited to infrastructure development only. Its objective is to strengthen the public participation based tourism model by linking local culture, natural heritage and rural livelihood with tourism. The district administration believes that with these efforts, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district will get a new identity among the emerging major tourist destinations of Chhattisgarh and the overall economic development of the area will also get new momentum through tourism.
