Patna (Bihar): There has been an uproar over bullets fired from AK-47 during the demonstration of students in Siwan, Bihar. Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter. He directly asked on whose orders the police took up the gun and held the state government responsible for this.
- Speaking to ANI, Tejashwi said that the Bihar government should clarify whether top police officers or the state Home Minister had ordered the firing.
- Tejashwi said, “Taking action against a constable is a different thing. But on whose orders was the action taken? Was the action taken against the SP? Was it the order of the Home Minister of Bihar, i.e. the Chief Minister? He should come forward and give a clarification, on whose instructions all this happened. And we demand a judicial inquiry into this matter.”
Tejashwi gave a big warning
- Tejashwi also warned that if the cases registered against the protesters were not withdrawn and the students were not released, there would be a ‘big movement’.
- He said, “And if these people do not withdraw the case by this evening and do not release the students, we will launch a big agitation.”
- He alleged that the firing was directly aimed at the protesters and claimed that three students were injured in the incident.
- Tejashwi said, “In no state of the country, even in Delhi, were AK-47 bullets fired. So in Bihar, on whose orders were AK-47 bullets fired? And if you see the footage of the firing, there was no aerial firing. The firing was targeted, and three students were hit by bullets.”
- Tejashwi told that he has met the three injured students. He alleged that the police were still arresting many students despite assurances that the cases would be withdrawn and those arrested would be released.

- Tejashwi asked, “Even for lathicharge, orders come from the top. Do you think that AK-47 guns were fired without orders? One thing is clear: There is a complete protocol to control the crowd. Did these people follow that protocol?”
- Tejashwi also sought clarification from Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on this firing. He reminded that the Home Department is with the Chief Minister only.
- He said, “We demand a judicial inquiry, and the Chief Minister himself should clarify on this because the Home Ministry is under his control. He will have to tell on whose orders the bullets were fired and what actually happened.
