CJP has given an ultimatum to the Center accusing the NEET movement of violating the agreement. Expressing displeasure over the arrest of the students, the party has demanded withdrawal of the FIR and warned that if the demands are not met, there will be nationwide protests again.
New Delhi [भारत]July 27 (ANI): The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Monday issued an ultimatum to the central government. The party has alleged that the government has violated the agreement following which the 37-day-long NEET agitation ended.

Allegation of breach of agreement
Ashutosh Ranka said, “Dear @JPNadda @DrJitendraSingh ji, we are witnessing a complete violation of the agreement of no police action against protesters. Hundreds of students have been arrested in Bihar and Bengal, and hundreds are being monitored/harassed in Delhi and other states. There are multiple reports of volunteers providing logistics support to protesters in Delhi being detained.”
CJP made these demands
The CJP demanded immediate withdrawal of the FIR, release of the detained youth and a copy of the written agreement on legal protection by Tuesday. If this did not happen, he warned of resuming nationwide protests. Ranka further said, “We demand that all FIRs against the protesters be immediately withdrawn, the students be released and that no FIR be filed by Delhi Police/Central Investigation Agencies/BJP-allied state police in future (as per our agreement), failing which we will be forced to protest again. We also demand that a written agreement regarding the legal matters be shared with us by tomorrow as per the deadline fixed with the Government of India Go.”
This movement was ended after the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan on 25 July. The government had then agreed with the CJP and activist Sonam Wangchuk to withdraw the cases, stop intimidation by police and bring anti-paper leak law.
The development coincides with massive uproar in Parliament, where Samajwadi Party and Congress MPs have raised the issue of police violence and AK-47 firing during the crackdown on students in Bihar and sought answers from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
CJP reminded the government of its promise
Earlier in the day, CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das expressed concern over reports of arrests of students and other protesters in Assam, West Bengal and Bihar and urged the Center to ensure their immediate release and withdrawal of FIRs.
“Such a breach of trust would be completely unacceptable to the youth,” Das said in a post on X, adding that the party had called off its nationwide protests after the Indian government assured that no punitive action would be taken against the protesters. “We are deeply concerned by the multiple reports of students and other protesters being targeted, detained or arrested by various state agencies in Assam, West Bengal and Bihar,” Das said.
He further said, “The Cockroach Janata Party had called off its nationwide protests only because the Government of India had assured us that no punitive action would be taken against any protestor, whether now or in the future, in any BJP-ruled or NDA-ruled state. Therefore, the reports coming from these states are a matter of grave concern.”
‘This would be a breach of trust’
Assuring legal assistance to the protesters, Das said, “First of all, we would like to assure every protestor that our legal team is coordinating with brilliant lawyers in the respective states to ensure the release of those detained and provide all possible legal assistance. This has been happening from day one.”
He further added, “Second, we urge the Government of India, especially @JPNadda ji and @DrJitendraSingh ji, to immediately honor the assurances given to us by ensuring the release of those detained and directing that no punitive or retaliatory action be taken against any protestor anywhere in the country. The FIR lodged should also be withdrawn.”
Das also reminded the Center of its commitment to provide written guarantees, and said, “The Government of India is also reminded that it is committed to furnish written guarantees to us in this regard by tomorrow, Tuesday, July 28, 2026.”
Explaining the decision to postpone the protests, he said, “The decision to postpone our nationwide protests was taken in good faith and only on the basis of the government’s assurance that it would live up to its promise. Any deviation from that assurance would not only be a breach of trust with the cockroach Janata Party, but it would also be a breach of public trust with millions of young Indians who chose dialogue over protest.”
Das further said, “The Government of India is reminded that it gets credibility not just by making promises, but by the promises that they keep.”
Earlier on Saturday, Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh had assured the party that no action would be taken against the protesters. (ANI)
