At the Balram Krishi Mahotsav in Jhabua, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav presented a big roadmap for farmers on natural farming, zero interest loans, irrigation, dairy, cotton and modern agricultural techniques.
Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav interacted with farmers online during the Balram Krishi Mahotsav-2026 organized in Jhabua on Saturday. He said that the state government is continuously working to increase the income of farmers, make farming more profitable and promote modern and natural farming. He also appealed to the farmers to adopt new technology and do farming according to the changing weather.
The Chief Minister informed that Balram Krishi Mahotsav is being organized in the state under the “Farmers Welfare Year”. It started from Indore and now this campaign is reaching different districts of the state.
MP Balram Krishi Mahotsav 2026: Next events will be held in these districts
The Chief Minister said that the next episode of Balram Krishi Mahotsav will be organized in Alirajpur on 21st July, Barwani on 23rd July, Khargone on 25th July, Burhanpur on 27th July and Khandwa on 30th July. After this, agriculture based programs will be organized in other districts of the state also.
Fear of less rain, instructions to administration to help farmers
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the Meteorological Department has predicted less than normal rainfall this year. In such a situation, he instructed the administration to be alert with full preparation to help the farmers. He said that agricultural loans up to Rs 3 lakh are being provided to farmers at zero percent interest rate. Apart from this, a scheme to provide electricity connections to farmers for only five rupees is also being implemented. To promote dairy development, 33 percent subsidy is being given on projects up to Rs 40 lakh.
Appeal to adopt natural farming and modern technology
The Chief Minister urged the farmers to adopt modern agricultural techniques, scientific advice, natural farming and water conservation measures. He said that the Central and State Governments are fully committed to protecting the interests of farmers and agricultural development. He said that taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of natural farming, 50 Krishi Sakhis have been selected in Jhabua district under the National Natural Farming Mission. At present, natural farming is being done in about 3,125 acres of area in the district and certification of farmers’ crops has also been done.
Kadaknath will get national and international recognition
The Chief Minister said that under the “One District-One Product” scheme, efforts are being made to give a new identity to the famous Kadaknath of Jhabua in the national and international market. During the year 2025, more than one thousand new beneficiaries have joined Kadaknath rearing in the district, which is expected to increase the income of local farmers.
Animal husbandry, fisheries and cotton production will get a boost
The Chief Minister said that along with farming, animal husbandry can become a strong medium of regular income for the farmers. The government is promoting dairy, goat rearing, poultry and other animal husbandry activities through various schemes. He said that more than 760 ponds have been developed in the district, in which fish farming is being done in an area of about three thousand hectares. Regarding cotton production, he said that so far in Kharif-2026, cotton has been sown in 23,230 hectare area in Jhabua district. This is about 16 percent more than last year.
Farmers will get big benefits from PM Mitra Park
The Chief Minister said that the PM Mitra Park being developed at Badnawar in Dhar district will provide “farm to factory” facility to the cotton producing farmers of Jhabua. This will provide better market to cotton producers and along with employment, industrial development will also get a new impetus.
Jhabua’s tomato becomes recognized across the country
Referring to the tomato processing unit located in Petlawad, the Chief Minister said that tomatoes are being cultivated in 2,812 hectare area in the district and about 1.68 lakh metric tonnes is being produced. A cluster of tomato producers has been developed here, where tomato sauce and ketchup are being produced. Besides, dehydration of tomatoes is also being done through 12 solar dryer units. Tomatoes from Jhabua are being sent to many states including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.
50 thousand farmers benefit from Narmada Micro Irrigation Project
The Chief Minister said that after the completion of Narmada-Jhabua-Petlavad-Thandla Micro Lift Irrigation Project, irrigation facility will be available in about 32 thousand hectare area. About 50 thousand farmers will benefit from this and more production will be possible with less water.
Farmers are getting information about modern technology in Balram Agricultural Festival
During Balram Krishi Mahotsav, farmers are being given information about modern agricultural techniques, improved seeds, new agricultural equipment, natural and organic farming, water conservation, crop diversification and various farmer-friendly schemes of the government. Honoring of excellent farmers, distribution of benefits to beneficiaries, demonstration of agricultural equipment and technical literature are also being made available in the festival. Farmers are also being given the opportunity to communicate directly with experts by organizing exhibitions by agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, cooperation and other departments.
Special emphasis on digital farming, drone technology and smart irrigation
In the Mahotsav, farmers are being given information about digital agricultural services, online agricultural advisory, weather based farming, soil health management, drone technology, smart irrigation system, modern agricultural equipment and market based farming. Besides, new methods of farming and risk management measures are also being explained according to the changing climate.
Agricultural festival will run in the entire state till 13th November
The Chief Minister said that this campaign is not just a program but a comprehensive effort to increase the income of farmers, provide modern technology, link them to agricultural processing, marketing and employment. 16 departments including agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, cooperation, energy, revenue and MSME are jointly carrying forward this campaign. Various agricultural programs will be organized in all the districts of the state till November 13.

Through Balram Krishi Mahotsav, farmers are being linked to six major agricultural resolutions-
- To promote natural and organic farming.
- To pursue the goal of water conservation and “water to every field”.
