In this case, the names of gangster Vijay Palande, his associate Dhananjay Shinde and model-actress Simran Sood came to light. A trap laid in the name of dreams
According to the investigating agencies, Simran Sood had come to know that Karan was financially strong and wanted to invest in films. She reportedly befriended Karan and assured him that she would introduce him to big names in the film industry. With this confidence, Karan reached for a so-called professional meeting, but there was no film project there. According to the police, Vijay Palande and his associates were already present in the flat and the entire conspiracy started from here.

Police investigation claimed that the accused first held Karan hostage, took possession of his bank cards and credit cards, withdrew money from his accounts and made huge purchases. When they felt that if Karan remained alive, the entire conspiracy could be exposed, then the decision was taken to kill him. According to the information revealed in the investigation, Karan was allegedly given two options: either get his throat cut while still conscious or take sleeping pills first. Police allege that Karan chose the option of taking pills. He was given 14 sleeping pills and his throat was slit in the bathroom while he was unconscious. After this, the body was cut into several pieces, kept in his own BMW car and thrown in a deserted area of Kumbharli Ghat in Maharashtra.

Secret revealed by search for brother
After Karan’s disappearance, his brother Hanish Kakkar reached Mumbai and started searching for him. They obtained CCTV footage of a mall, which allegedly showed the accused using Karan’s ATM card. This footage was handed over to the police, but initially no major breakthrough was made in the case. Later, Vijay Palande was arrested in the murder case of Delhi businessman Arun Tikku, after which the investigation intensified. According to the police, on the behest of Palande, the skeleton was recovered from Kumbharli Ghat and through DNA test it was identified as Karan Kakkar.
