Ranveer Singh’s 40th birthday was marked by a private celebration with close friends, notably excluding Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The exclusion stems from a reported fallout between the actor and director.
As per senior journalist, Subhash K Jha, this rift arose after Bhansali did not cast Ranveer in the lead role for his upcoming film, “Love & War,” despite their previous successful collaborations.
The film “Love & War” features Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal in leading roles. Initially, Ranveer was offered a secondary role, which he declined. Consequently, Vicky Kaushal took on that part. This decision reportedly strained the relationship between Ranveer and Bhansali, leading to the latter’s absence from the birthday guest list.
Ranveer Singh’s New Ventures
Despite this professional setback, Ranveer Singh is moving forward with new projects. He has signed on for Aditya Dhar’s “Dhurandhar.” The first look of this film was released on his birthday, showcasing a raw and intense portrayal by Ranveer. The movie boasts an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal.
The teaser for “Dhurandhar” has sparked discussions not only for its action-packed scenes but also due to Ranveer’s romantic pairing with 20-year-old actress Sara Arjun. Filming occurred two years ago when Sara was just 18 and Ranveer was 38. Despite some criticism over this age gap, Ranveer has chosen not to comment publicly.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ambitious Project
Meanwhile, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is deeply involved in his ambitious project “Love & War.” The film began shooting in November 2024 and is nearly halfway through production. It promises intense sequences featuring its star-studded cast. The movie is slated for release in March 2026.
Ranveer Singh had previously been a central figure in Bhansali’s successful films like “Ramleela,” “Padmaavat,” and “Bajirao Mastani.” He was also expected to lead another project titled “Baiju Bawra” alongside Alia Bhatt before the focus shifted to “Love & War.”
“Dhurandhar,” presented by Jio Studios and produced by B62 Studios, is set for release on December 5. It is written, directed, and produced by Aditya Dhar with producers Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar at the helm.
