Union Minister Annapurna Devi cornered the opposition on Nari Shakti Vandan Bill. He said that the opposition tried to stop women’s rights. Also enumerated the achievements of the government in women empowerment.

Lucknow. During the press conference held at the BJP office, Union Minister Annapurna Devi made a scathing attack on the opposition parties regarding the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after 2014, historic work has been done in the field of economic and social empowerment of women. Now the government was taking concrete steps to strengthen women politically.

Government’s big initiative in women empowerment

The Union Minister said that the discussion in Parliament on the Nari Shakti Vandan Amendment Bill was positive and meaningful. But opposition parties like Congress, Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress and DMK hurt the hopes of women by opposing this bill. She said the government’s aim was to strengthen women’s political participation, but the opposition tried to stop it.

Opposition accused of politics of ‘hanging-distracting-stuck’

Annapurna Devi alleged that like always, this time also the opposition parties adopted the strategy of delaying, diverting and stalling the bill. He said that April 17 will be remembered as “Black Day” because of this. He said that this day reflects the attitude of the opposition against women’s rights.

Women are now aware and empowered: will give a democratic response

The Union Minister said that the women of the country have now become more aware and empowered than before. They are increasing their participation in every field. He expressed confidence that women will respond democratically to those who stand against their rights.

Target on Rahul Gandhi and Congress

Taking aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Annapurna Devi said that despite being in power for a long time, Congress did not give their rights to the Other Backward Classes (OBCs). He said that the NDA government did the work of giving constitutional status to the OBC Commission, which is a big step towards social justice.

SP accused of appeasement and nepotism

The Union Minister accused the Samajwadi Party of doing appeasement politics. He said that the Constitution does not allow reservation on the basis of religion. He also said that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi are doing politics of dynasticism and they are not concerned with the interests of the general public.

There is no politics on women’s rights, commitment is necessary

Annapurna Devi said that seriousness and commitment are necessary, not politics, on the issue of women’s rights and respect. He reiterated that the Central Government is making every possible effort for the empowerment of women and will continue to do so in future also.
