CM Yogi Adityanath has announced to change the name of Bhadohi to Sant Ravidas Nagar. Taking aim at the previous SP government, he said that earlier there was an atmosphere of fear in Etawah and Mainpuri, which the BJP government has ended and freed from the identity crisis.
Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [भारत]July 29 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday announced that Bhadohi district will be renamed as Sant Ravidas Nagar.
Addressing a public meeting in Varanasi, the Chief Minister said, “The Samajwadi Party had committed the sin of removing even the name of the district established in the name of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj. Now, Bhadohi will once again be known as Sant Ravidas Nagar.”
Bhadohi is a city and district in Uttar Pradesh, India, famous globally as the ‘Carpet City’ for being the largest hand-knotted carpet-weaving industry center in South Asia. It is also known as Sant Ravidas Nagar and is located in the plains of the Ganges River between Varanasi (45 km east) and Prayagraj.
There is no atmosphere of fear or terror in Etawah now: CM Yogi
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said Etawah is no longer synonymous with fear or terror, and its youth no longer face an identity crisis, which he attributed to the BJP government’s zero-tolerance policy towards crime and criminals. Addressing a public meeting in Etawah, the Chief Minister alleged that before 2017, the district was suffering from an identity crisis, with fear and insecurity forcing people to travel from the area and discouraging investment.
Yogi said, “Before 2017, who had created the identity crisis in front of Etawah? The people who won from Etawah had created this crisis. If there is an identity crisis in Etawah, then it will become the crisis of Uttar Pradesh. People were afraid to go through this route. There was so much fear and terror that rooms in the hotels of the country were not available only in the name of Etawah; everything was missing in the name of investment. No one even thought of coming here.”
He further credited the BJP government for taking a tough stance against crime and criminals after coming to power in 2017 and said the party has fulfilled its promise of adopting a zero-tolerance policy. He said, “Therefore, when in 2017, on the call of the Prime Minister, all of you allowed the lotus of BJP to bloom in your areas, the BJP had pledged that we will work under a zero-tolerance policy towards crime and criminals. The BJP has done what it said. Those who had created the crisis, today they are facing an identity crisis.”
The Chief Minister said that the perception about Etawah has changed and its youth no longer face any identity crisis while traveling to Uttar Pradesh or other parts of the country. “Now, the name of Etawah does not create fear or terror anywhere. Now, the youth of Etawah have no identity crisis. Wherever the youth of Etawah go in the state or the country, they get the same respect that residents of other districts of Uttar Pradesh get.”
“The double-engine government of the state has freed them from the identity crisis. I am happy to tell you that I am going to gift 128 development projects worth Rs 604 crore to the residents of Etawah. I congratulate the residents of Etawah on this.”
Mainpuri got its traditional and historical identity
Later, addressing an event in Mainpuri, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several development projects, Yogi Adityanath said the district is now recognized for its traditional and historical identity, while he alleged that it was earlier associated with fear and insecurity. He accused those representing the region of creating problems for youth, farmers, traders and women. He said, “Today’s Mainpuri is known for its traditional and historical identity. But there was a time when people were afraid of the name of Mainpuri. Who created this identity crisis? Who were those people who took away the jobs of the youth here, who took away the prosperity of the farmers who feed us, who made the traders insecure, and who created a security crisis for the daughters? Who were the people who made our workers unemployed? They were not from anywhere.”
The Chief Minister alleged that the same people not only created an identity crisis for Mainpuri and Etawah but also pushed Uttar Pradesh into a state of decline. “They are among your own people; they were the ones who not only raised questions for Mainpuri and Etawah but also created an identity crisis for UP and pushed it into a sick state, making it non-existent,” the CM said.
