Bhopal. On the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will launch the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0” campaign at the Kushabhau Thackeray International Auditorium in Bhopal. The program will be organized from 11 am. On this occasion, many important activities will be organized to promote environmental protection and green development.

Will be honored with state level environmental awards

During the program, individuals, industrial units, educational institutions and social organizations who have made outstanding contributions in the field of environmental protection, pollution control and sustainable development for the year 2024-25 will be honored. A total of 11 state level environment awards will be presented in 8 categories.

Initiatives related to circular economy and water conservation will be launched

On this occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav will release five new course modules related to circular economy. Along with this, documentation documents of 500 stepwells located in 16 districts of Madhya Pradesh will also be issued under the Jal Ganga Augmentation Campaign run by APCO and INTACH. Exhibition and presentation of innovations and notable works related to environment protection, water conservation and circular economy will also be organized in the program. Minister of State for Forest and Environment Dilip Ahirwar will also be present in this program.

Emphasis on public participation in ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ campaign

Under the second phase of the campaign, common citizens, educational institutions, industries, self-help groups, panchayats, urban bodies and various social organizations will be motivated to plant trees on a large scale. Geo-tagging of the plants to be planted will be done and their registration will be done on Meri LiFE portal. Through this system, monitoring and conservation of plants will be ensured. Under this campaign started in the year 2024, crores of saplings have been planted in the state so far. This campaign will be conducted with public participation in the entire state from June 5 to September 30, 2026.

Environmental experts will present their views

On the occasion of World Environment Day, various programs will be organized across the state up to the district level with the aim of transforming environmental protection, biodiversity promotion and public participation-based tree planting into a mass movement. This year’s event will be based on the United Nations theme “Inspired by Nature, For Climate and For Our Future” and the national message “Now For Climate”. In the programme, experts, public representatives and environmentalists will share their views on environmental protection, climate change, pollution control and sustainable development goals.

Awareness campaign will run in all districts

Programs like environmental awareness programs, seminars, rallies, painting and essay competitions, tree plantation drives, cleanliness activities and taking oath for environmental protection will be organized in all the districts of the state. Active participation of schools, colleges, NSS, NCC, Nehru Yuva Kendra and voluntary organizations will be ensured. There will be special events at the district level on the themes “One Tree – Many Lives” and “Inspired by Nature, Our Future for Climate”.

Apart from this, a large scale campaign will be run to reach the people on issues like water conservation, biodiversity promotion, plastic free environment, cleanliness and green development. This event will play an important role in strengthening environmental consciousness in the state and connecting different sections of the society with environmental protection.
