Court reserved its decision
New Delhi [भारत]July 16 (ANI): Patiala House Court on Thursday reserved its order on the plea of Baramulla MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh seeking permission to attend the upcoming Parliament session while in custody in a terror funding case being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Special Judge (NIA) Prashant Sharma reserved the order after hearing the arguments of Abdul Rashid Shaikh and NIA lawyers. This order is expected to be pronounced at 4 pm.
NIA has no objection
Abdul Rashid Sheikh had sought permission to attend the Parliament session starting from July 20 through lawyer Vikayat Oberoi. Special public prosecutor Gautam Khazanchi, appearing for the NIA, said the agency has no objection if the accused is allowed to attend the Parliament session in custody.
Permission has already been granted
Sheikh has already been allowed to attend Parliament proceedings while in custody. He was also granted interim bail to attend his father’s funeral. Sheikh is in judicial custody in the NIA case registered in 2017 after his arrest. The NIA has also filed a supplementary charge sheet against him in this case. (ANI)
