JEE Advanced 2026 Topper Shubham Kumar: Gaya district of Bihar suddenly shined on the map of the country as soon as the results of ‘JEE Advanced 2026’, considered the country’s most difficult and prestigious engineering entrance examination, were declared. Shubham Kumar, a 17-year-old student coming from a very ordinary family, has achieved a feat which many people cannot even imagine. Shubham has captured All India Rank (AIR) 1 by securing a total of 330 marks out of 360. As soon as this news spread, there was such an influx of congratulatory people at Shubham’s house that the entire area became a witness to this historic success.
Secret resolution of hardware shop running father and topper son
As big as Shubham’s success is, the struggle behind it is equally deep. Shubham’s father, Shivkumar, runs a small hardware shop in Gaya, while his mother, Kanchan Devi, is a housewife. Despite lack of resources and limited income, his father never let any compulsion come in the way of Shubham’s dreams. Such a disciplined and secret environment of studies was created within this simple house, which gave Shubham the strength to reach the top by defeating the children of the most expensive and influential families of the country.

That mysterious journey from 100 percentile to AIR 1
This success of Shubham is not a coincidence or overnight luck. The foundation for this was laid earlier this year itself, when he achieved All India Rank (AIR) 6 by scoring full 100 percentile in the JEE Main exam. But Shubham’s goal was bigger. Even after getting sixth position in the main examination, he did not sit still, rather he locked himself in his room and put all his strength in this final examination for the next two years under the guidance of ALLEN Career Institute, Kota.

“You will not leave until you break”…when weakness became the biggest weapon.
Revealing his preparation strategy, Shubham said that he used to self-study for six to eight hours every day. His biggest suspense formula was that he used to repeat everything taught in class on the same day. Whenever he found any subject difficult or scary, he repeatedly went to his teachers instead of retreating in fear. Shubham said: “Whenever I faced any problem in any subject, I kept asking questions. My teachers explained every concept from scratch, which strengthened my foundation and the pressure became my biggest motivation.”
