Devshayani Ekadashi 2026: Every year the fast of Devshayani Ekadashi is observed on the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Ashadha month. Also Lord Vishnu is worshipped. On this day Lord Vishnu goes into Yoga Nidra and Chaturmas begins. Chaturmas is of four months. At this time, all auspicious functions like marriage, house warming etc. stop. All these auspicious works start again from the day of Devuthani Ekadashi of Kartik month.
The worship, fasting, chanting, penance and meditation done during Chaturmas gives manifold results. On the day of Devshayani Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu goes into Yoga Nidra, the importance of worship and fasting does not diminish on this day. There is a religious belief that by worshiping and fasting as per the rituals on the day of Devshayani Ekadashi, all the sorrows of life go away. Auspicious time of Devshayani Ekadashi Puja (Devshayani Ekadashi 2026 Puja Muhurat)
The best time for worship on the day of Devshayani Ekadashi is from 4.17 am to 6.10 am. During this time, take bath and worship Lord Vishnu. If you are not able to worship at this time, then Abhijeet Muhurta in the afternoon is the auspicious time to worship Lord Vishnu. Abhijeet Muhurat will start at 12 o’clock on this day. This will last till 12:55 pm. The evening puja auspicious time will start at 07:17 pm. It will last till 08:19 pm.
Devshayani Ekadashi Puja Vidhi
- On the day of Devshayani Ekadashi, wake up early in the morning and worship Lord Vishnu as per the rituals.
- After this, wake up early in the morning and take bath and wear clean yellow clothes.
- After this, take a pledge to fast in front of Lord Shri Hari Vishnu.
- After this, spread a yellow cloth on a wooden post and place the idol or picture of Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi.
- Then, bathe Lord Vishnu with Panchamrit and Ganga water.
- After this, offer them yellow clothes, yellow flowers, sandalwood, Roli, Akshat and Tulsi Dal.
- After this, offer yellow fruits and satvik bhog to Sri Hari.
- Be sure to include basil leaves in the offering.
- Chant Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya mantra during the puja.
- Read or listen to the fasting story of Ekadashi.
- In the end, perform Aarti with incense sticks.
