What is the salary of Vande Bharat Loco Pilot?

The starting basic salary of ALP in Railways is ₹ 19,900. The starting in-hand salary including dearness allowance, house rent allowance, transport and other allowances can be around ₹35,000 to ₹40,000.

Whereas, experienced loco pilots running premium trains like Vande Bharat can earn a monthly salary of ₹1 lakh or more along with running allowance, night duty and other allowances. Actual salary depends on seniority, duty hours and allowances.

Qualification and other facilities

To become an Assistant Loco Pilot, it is mandatory for the candidate to have passed 10th. Along with this, one should have ITI in related trade or Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or Automobile. The age limit is generally fixed at 18 to 30 years.

Apart from salary, loco pilots also get many government facilities like DA, HRA, transport allowance, running allowance, medical facility, railway travel concession, pension (as per rules), leave and promotion. This is why it is considered one of the most prestigious jobs in Indian Railways.
