A wedding card in Amravati, Maharashtra has gone viral on social media. The historical claims made in the card about Tipu Sultan and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj have sparked a new debate. Different reactions of people are coming out on the matter.
A wedding card surfaced from Amravati district of Maharashtra is becoming increasingly viral on social media these days. Normally wedding invitation cards are limited to just the information about the ceremony, but due to the mention of historical personalities and the claims related to them in this card, it has now become a topic of public discussion.
The card features Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan as an “inspiration”. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire, has also been mentioned. The names of both historical personalities and the claims related to them have sparked a new debate on social media.
The matter is related to Mirzapur village of Amravati.
According to the information, this wedding card is said to be related to the marriage of Shohaib Ahmed, a resident of Mirzapur village located near Valgaon in Amravati district. Tipu Sultan’s name is prominently written on the card as “Shere Mysore”. Many historical claims have also been published along with this. These include mention of Purnaiah Pandit as the guru of Tipu Sultan, donating land to temples and giving gold coins to the temple of Kashi.

Mentions were also made about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has also been mentioned as an inspiration in the card. Along with this, some claims related to his life and reign have also been mentioned. Yakub Shah’s name has been mentioned in the invitation letter as the political guru of Shivaji Maharaj. Also, mentions have been made regarding donation of land for Dargah in Ratnagiri area and construction of mosque along with Jagdishwar temple in Raigarh. This part is now causing the most discussion and debate on social media.

After the card went viral, people’s reactions have also started coming in on social media. Some people are calling it an attempt to bring out a different perspective of history, while some people have raised questions about the veracity of the claims written in the card. Historians believe that different opinions and interpretations regarding historical facts have always existed. In such a situation, any claim should be confirmed only on the basis of certified historical sources.
No official statement came from the administration
At present, there has been no official response from the administration on this entire matter. However, after the card went viral, there is an atmosphere of discussion at the local level and some people are also expressing fear of controversy regarding it. Not only Amravati, but this card has become a topic of discussion in many districts of Maharashtra.
