London: The feeling of becoming a mother is the most beautiful feeling in the world. A family from Punjab was also rejoicing that their 24 year old daughter Kirandeep Kaur had given birth to a lovely baby just a few weeks ago. But who knew that across the seven seas, in a quiet area of London, this innocent happiness was going to be exposed to someone’s murderous eye. A soul-shattering incident has come to light in Hayes area of West London, which has spread sensation from Britain to India. A locked house, an innocent Indian mother sleeping in the bedroom and an unknown shadow who enters in the form of death with a sharp weapon in his hands.
That bloody shadow of midnight: when breathing stopped in deep sleep
Sunday morning was as usual in the Hayes area of West London, United Kingdom (UK), but the scene inside a house had completely changed. According to reports, 24-year-old Kirandeep Kaur was fast asleep in her bedroom. Then an unknown attacker enters the house. Without any noise he moves straight towards the bedroom where Kirandeep was sleeping. Before Kirandeep could understand anything or scream for help, the ruthless attacker attacked her with a sharp weapon. Within a few minutes the body of a laughing young mother had become lifeless.

This dreadful incident was not limited to Kirandeep alone. When the police reached the spot, the scene was very intriguing and scary. Kirandeep’s husband (aged 20-29 years) was found bleeding outside the house, with deep knife wounds on his body. He was immediately taken to the hospital in critical condition. Meanwhile, the police acted promptly and arrested a man named Daniel Shawn James, 44, based on his appearance near the incident site. The shocking thing was that James had serious injuries on his body. Police believe that these injuries were caused by jumping down from the window of the house after committing the crime. Police have registered a case of attempt to murder and possession of illegal weapons against James and presented him in Willesden Magistrate Court. With the help of evidence recovered from the spot, CCTV footage and forensic reports, the investigating agencies are trying to find out what was the real motive behind the attack and whether the accused already knew the family.

‘Hate crime’ or some deep conspiracy? serious allegation by family
The biggest twist in this entire murder mystery came when Kirandeep’s family living in Punjab made a sensational claim in front of the media. The family clearly believes that this was not an ordinary theft or attack, but a ‘hate crime’ (racist attack). Kirandeep was targeted just because she was Indian. However, the London Police is still avoiding accepting this theory. According to Metro UK report, the police have said that no concrete evidence has been found so far that would directly prove it as a ‘hate crime’. The investigators are currently considering every possible angle and trying to find out if there was any prior relationship between the attacker and the victim’s family.

The most painful story of this tragedy is related to Kirandeep’s past. Kirandeep had gone to the United Kingdom (UK) on student visa about two years ago. On the basis of her ability, she obtained a work permit and settled there. Her parents, Sukhdev Singh and Baljeet Kaur, had sold all their farming land in Piddi village in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district to fulfill their daughter’s dream of a bright future. He hoped that one day Kirandeep would also invite her siblings abroad. Today the land is gone and so is their beloved daughter.
What will happen to the newborn? The biggest concern of the family
The biggest question after the incident is about the newborn child, who was born just a few weeks ago. The police have not yet made public any detailed information regarding the condition of the child. Kirandeep’s family members have demanded the Government of India and the Government of Britain to help in bringing the body to India and to give strictest punishment to the culprits. Neighbor Ruby said in a tearful voice, “She was always a smiling girl, very happy to be a mother. A neighbor told that she did not hear any sound during the night, but as soon as the morning came, everyone was surprised to see the heavy presence of police in the entire area. It is not understood why someone would have such enmity towards her.” At present, the police investigation is going on for the safety of that innocent newborn child and to expose the real face behind this bloody conspiracy.
Investigation continues, many questions still unanswered
At present the British police is thoroughly investigating this matter. Authorities are trying to find out whether the attack was pre-planned or not, whether there was any connection between the accused and the victim’s family, and whether the incident was indeed a hate crime. Until the investigation is completed, answers to many important questions of this case are yet to be found. At present, it is certain that this house which used to echo with the cries of a newborn has now become the center of a painful crime, which has shocked people in both India and Britain.
