Thalapathy Vijay recently took oath as the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Since then everyone in the Tamil film industry is celebrating and congratulating Vijay. But when superstar Rajinikanth was asked about Vijay’s oath, the reaction he gave has gone viral on social media. However, before this he had congratulated Vijay and TVK for their big victory.
Rajinikanth, one of the most popular faces of Tamil cinema and politics, is once again in the headlines. In fact, when journalists asked him questions at Chennai Airport about C. Joseph Vijay becoming the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, without saying anything he just smiled, folded his hands and moved ahead. This small reaction of his is becoming increasingly viral on social media. Interestingly, after the election results, Rajinikanth has already congratulated Vijay and his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam for a landslide victory. This victory of Vijay has brought a big change in the politics of Tamil Nadu.
Rajinikanth’s silence became a topic of discussion at the airport
On Tuesday, 12 May, Rajinikanth was seen at Chennai Airport, where there was heavy media presence. Meanwhile, reporters asked him questions about Vijay becoming the Chief Minister and his swearing-in ceremony. However, the superstar did not give any statement. He just smiled, folded his hands and moved ahead. His silent reaction is now becoming increasingly viral on social media. Many fans are calling it a respectable reaction, while some people are also seeing it as a form of political distance.
Congratulated Vijay after winning the election
Even though Rajinikanth did not say anything in response to the questions of journalists at Chennai airport, after the election results came on May 4, he openly congratulated Vijay and his party. He had written in his message, “My hearty congratulations to Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam President Shri Vijay and all the members of his party for their spectacular victory in the recently held Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.”
Rajinikanth had prepared to enter politics
Interestingly, Rajinikanth himself had also prepared to enter politics. In the year 2020, he had announced to launch a political party and contest elections, but later distanced himself from politics citing health reasons. He called that decision a warning from God.
Vijay created history from films to politics
Vijay’s party TVK made a big upset in its very first assembly elections and left behind the big parties like DMK and AIADMK. The party created history by winning 108 seats and later crossed the majority mark by getting the support of 120 MLAs. C. Joseph Vijay took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on 10 May at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered him the oath of office and secrecy. Vijay has now joined the list of big actor-politicians, which includes N. T. Rama Rao, M.G. Ramachandran and J. Names like Jayalalitha are included.
