Prateek Yadav, son of former UP CM Mulayam Singh Yadav, dies at 38

New Delhi: Prateek Yadav, son of Samajwadi Party founder and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, died on Wednesday at the age of 38 in Lucknow.

According to reports, Prateek’s health deteriorated and he was being taken to a civil hospital when he died on the way. Doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Yadav was husband of BJP leader Aparna

Prateek Yadav was the husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav, who is currently serving as vice-chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Women’s Commission.

Reports further mentioned that he was brought to the hospital at around 5.55 am, but had already passed away before arrival.

Prateek had been admitted to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow a week ago after falling ill. He was later discharged after his condition stabilised. During his hospitalisation, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and his wife Dimple Yadav had also visited him.

He stayed away from active politics

Though Prateek belonged to one of Uttar Pradesh’s most prominent political families, he largely stayed away from active politics. He was the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife Sadhana Gupta.

Known for his interest in fitness, Prateek frequently shared workout-related photos and videos on social media.

Prateek and Aparna Yadav got married in 2012 after being in a long-term relationship. Their wedding was considered one of Uttar Pradesh’s high-profile social and political events, attended by several prominent personalities.

The Samajwadi Party in a post on social media platform X condoled the death of Yadav. “The passing of Prateek Yadav is deeply saddening. May God grant peace to the departed soul,” the party wrote.
