Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave assistance of Rs 2.76 crore to 488 women through DBT in the second phase of the Chief Minister Ekal Mahila Self-Employment Scheme.
Uttarakhand government is continuously taking steps towards making women financially self-reliant. In this sequence, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the second phase of ‘Chief Minister Ekal Mahila Self-Employment Scheme’ on Wednesday during a program organized at the Chief Minister Camp Office at the Chief Minister Camp Office.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister transferred assistance amounting to Rs 1 crore 55 lakh 40 thousand as the first installment to 212 new women beneficiaries under the second phase of the scheme through DBT. At the same time, 276 women beneficiaries of the first phase of the scheme were given Rs 1 crore 20 lakh 76 thousand 875 as the second installment.
In this way, an assistance amount of Rs 2 crore 76 lakh 16 thousand 875 was directly transferred to the accounts of a total of 488 women. Earlier on February 10, 2026, assistance of Rs 3 crore 45 lakh was provided to 484 women in the first phase of the scheme.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the biggest strength of any society and nation is its mother power. When women are empowered then the family, society and country also becomes stronger. He said that the mothers and sisters of Uttarakhand are strengthening the economy of the state along with family responsibilities. The aim of the state government is to provide a strong foundation of respect, security, self-reliance and self-reliance to women.
Mukhyamantri Ekal Mahila Swarojgar Yojana: Which women get the benefit?
The Chief Minister said that this scheme has been launched with the aim of making single, destitute, widowed, abandoned and divorced women as well as acid attack victims, women affected by other criminal incidents and transgender persons economically self-reliant. Under the scheme, a maximum project of up to Rs 2 lakh is sanctioned to the beneficiaries to start self-employment in their place of residence or local area. In this, the state government provides up to 75 percent grant. The Chief Minister said that the aim of the government is not only to provide financial assistance but also to give women an opportunity to stand on their feet in a respectable manner.
Women Empowerment: Women got new confidence under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi
Chief Minister Dhami said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the respect, safety and empowerment of women has got a new direction. Referring to decisions like women’s reservation, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Ujjwala Yojana, Lakhpati Didi Abhiyan and ending the evil practice of triple talaq, he said that these initiatives have given strong participation to women in the mainstream of development. He said that the Uttarakhand government is also continuously working for the economic and social development of women under the guidance of the Prime Minister.
Self Help Group: 5 lakh women joined self-help groups, 2.65 lakh became Lakhpati Didi
The Chief Minister said that women are being linked to self-employment and entrepreneurship through Uttarakhand State Rural Livelihood Mission, Empowered Brahmin Utsav Scheme, Chief Minister Women Self Help Group Empowerment Scheme and Chief Minister Udyamshala Scheme. The state government is also providing incubation facility to more than 15 thousand women entrepreneurs, self-help groups and Lakhpati Didis.
He said that at present about 5 lakh women of the state are involved in economic activities through more than 70 thousand self-help groups. Apart from this, more than 7 thousand village organizations, more than 500 cluster organizations and more than 2 lakh 65 thousand Lakhpati Didi are becoming new examples of women empowerment in the state.
House of Himalayas: Local products are getting national and global markets
The Chief Minister said that through the ‘House of Himalayas’ brand, local products of Uttarakhand are being made available to the national and international markets. Along with this, strong systems are also being developed for processing, packaging, branding and marketing of products prepared by women, so that the income of women entrepreneurs can increase.
Women Reservation: Women get the benefit of 30% reservation and uniform civil code.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has given 30 percent horizontal reservation to women in government jobs. Along with this, an important step has been taken towards protecting the rights of women and ensuring equal justice by implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state. He expressed confidence that the Chief Minister Ekal Mahila Self-Employment Scheme will write a new chapter of self-reliance, respect and economic empowerment in the lives of thousands of women in the coming times.

Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya said that this scheme is proving to be a new chapter of self-reliance, respect and confidence in the lives of single women of the state. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the state government is considering women not as recipients of help but as partners in development and connecting them with self-employment.
He said that the government is making continuous efforts to make women self-reliant through training, financial assistance, marketing and entrepreneurship. Also appealed to the beneficiary women to take maximum advantage of this opportunity and become an inspiration for other women.
During the program, the women beneficiaries of the scheme expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister. On this occasion, Secretary of Women Empowerment and Child Development Department Chandresh Kumar, Director Banshilal Rana and other officers were present.
